A lot of the time you will find that you have spyware and
didn't even know it. The spyware lurks in the background
doing it deeds within the shadows of their computer's hard
drives. Unfortunately, many are not aware of the effects of
spyware, the damage it can do and things that can be done to
avoid program from infiltrating your system.
The purpose of this article is to tell you what spyware is,
and how to protect yourself from it.
Spyware are computer programs that exist on your computer's
hard drive. They come in a variety of types and flavors.
Some spyware simply lurk in the shadows of your hard drive,
watching your browser and taking notes of which websites you
visit.
Some of these will watch you when you are on the computer
and record your keystrokes when you enter financial
websites. Spyware such as "keyloggers", will share your most
sensitive financial information, even your usernames and
passwords, to other companies all over the internet.
Most often, spyware is downloaded through the internet. The
download can occur if a user click to some other software
where spyware is attached and it will download to your hard
drive. Other times, spyware can be downloaded by visiting
websites. "Drive By's" are downloads that happen when a user
simply visits a particular websites, without the permission
of the user.
While not all spyware is necessarily dangerous, it does
represent a risk because of the damage it is capable of
doing. For example, the spyware that watches your keystrokes
when you visit financial websites and then communicates this
data to other unknown parties exposes you and your financial
livelihood to risk. These other parties can then potentially
access your bank, investment and loan accounts online
without your knowledge or permission, wreaking havoc.
There are additional kinds of spyware that can take control
of your computer and give that access to other parties.
Consequently, anonymous individuals could possibly get ahold
of all the sensitive information contained on your hard
drive.
Computers need protection from spyware. The most effective
way to protect you and your computer is to research and use
a program that is designated specifically to identity and
get rid of such bus and viruses. Such programs include
Search and Destroy software. Spyware creators are always
becomming more savvy, so these kind of programs are helpful.
Some spyware tries to mask or disguise its presence on your
hard drive by appearing as an anti spyware program. That can
make them difficult to identify and remove. Fortunately,
dedicated programs like Spybot are constantly updated with
the latest version of spyware that are being circulated.
This allows it to keep up with new spyware, helping it to
easily identify and remove them.
If you have never scanned your system, there is a good
chance that you have a spyware program lurking on your hard
drive. It could be relatively benign, content to simply
exist, or, it could be maliciously communicating your
sensitive data to outside parties. Use a dedicated spyware
removal program to get rid of these bugs before they cause
any significant damage.
Search engine rankings are your key to the success of your
web site. Free traffic from organic search results from the
search engines is the main reason to learn how to improve
the search engine ranking of your site. The number one
search engine you should be focused on is Google.
Why Google? Fact is, Google currently holds a 77% market
share of the search engine business. Google handles 300
MILLION search queries every DAY. With over 8 billion pages
in the Google index (with thousands being added daily), you
need to have your ducks in a row and learn how to improve
your search engine ranking or else you will get lost in the
Google index. Without better search engine rankings, your
web site will remain a virtual ghost town.
There are so many unbelievable myths out there pertaining to
theories of how to better your rank in the search engines.
We all already know that Google likes the following factors
of a web site - and ranks a site with these factors in mind:
URL containing your keyword
Keywords in content (and near each other)
Link Popularity (links pointing TO your site)
Keywords used to link to your site
Over-all theme of the site or page
Now, I have to mention that Google doesn't mention
optimizing meta tags, however,it is my experience that
taking the time to optimize title tags and description tags
can help... and certainly can't hurt.
Improve Search Engine Ranking - The Myths
Yes, there is a lot of false information going around about
how to boost your site in the search engines. Your first
step in learning how to improve your rankings is to learn
what is fact - and what is NOT.
These are some of the search engine ranking myths that you
need to get out of your head:
Myth #1: Google Knows and Sees Everything
Myth #2: Google Won't Rank Duplicate Content
Myth #3: You Must Get Links From Related Subject Sites to
Rank
Myth #4: Your Site Must Focus On One Topic To Rank Well
Myth #5: High Page Rank Means Good Rankings
Myth #6: To Maintain Good Rankings, You Must Add New Content
MYTH #7: THE BIGGEST MYTH: Ranking In Google Is Hard!
Improving your search engine ranking is not hard
Thankfully, getting better rankings in Google is not hard -
if you know what you're doing. Think about Google, and what
their goal is. The goal of Google is to provide their users
with the fastest, most relevant search results possible.
They certainly are one of the only websites that I can think
of that has the primary goal of getting visitors OFF their
site as quickly as possible!
One of the most critical things you can do to raise your
search engine rankings and bring more traffic to your site
is to convince other websites to link to yours. Running a
linking campaign is free, of course, and it is not rocket
science, but doing it well does take significant time and
effort. I recommend a couple of ways to find websites which
might be willing to link to you.
One way is to do a simple search to find websites with
information about the same subject as your site, or closely
related information. If you have a website about footware ,
for instance, you can use search terms such as "footware",
"shoes", "loafers", "running shoes", and "sandals" to
find sites which may be interested in linking to yours.
Or, you can take another route. Just identify a related site
which is highly popular, and find the websites which link to
it. You can do that with a search in Google or
alltheweb.com for "link:" (without the quotation marks) and
the complete URL of the popular website. For example,
link:http://www.example.com (and don't forget
the colon after the word "link"). There are also software
programs which can search for appropriate websites
automatically.
Once you have found these websites; the websites most likely
to link to yours, go to them, cut and paste the email
addresses of their webmasters, and request a link. An email
which is polite, well written, and summarizes the content of
your website will help you achieve the best results.
The description of your site must be interesting and explain
why the webmaster's visitors will find it helpful or
enjoyable. The less hype the better.
You can also offer the webmaster something in return. For
example:
a. a link on your site.
b. offer information or products of value. A vacation
discount certificate, the URL of a website offering a free
online calendar, or a free contact management program are
just a few examples of items incentives you can offer in
exchange for a link.
Contact an average of at least ten webmasters a day, more if
you have the time. With just a ten percent success rate,
that will net you a minimum of thirty new links a month.
If you follow this advice, you should experience an almost
immediate, albeit modest, increase in visitors to your
website. However, the biggest benefit of a good linking
campaign, higher search engine rankings, will take a bit
longer. There is no magic formula, and there are lots of
variables, but your search engine ranking could improve in
as little as a few weeks, and should continue to improve as
time goes on and more sites link to you as both a direct
result of your efforts and webmasters seeing your links on
other sites
Face the fact - your blog needs to be regularly updated to maintain its readership! Hence, you must always find fresh topics to write about, and we're going to discuss how to do
just that in this article.
We have discussed how to write attractively, so now we are going to discuss what we are going to write on. The very first option that I think a blogger should write on is a topic that he or she feels passionate and interested in. You've chosen to make blogging your career because you want to escape a mundane job - forcing yourself to write about something that you're not interested in is as torturous as as your mundane job!
The other reason I ask you to write about something you're passionate about is because your feelings and emotion shows through your writings! If you feel indifferent to a certain subject but still write about it just for the sake of it, your readers will notice it. Remember the advice about writing with a personality? Forcing yourself to write will not establish a welcoming style at all.
Once you have chosen your main theme, start posting to your blog about it and make it a habit to post at least once every day, even if it's only a comment on the newspaper article you read today. Think of yourself as a gigantic train. It takes a lot of effort to get you moving. First,
you might just budge an inch, and later trudge slowly on until you finally reach your full speed. Then, it'll take a lot of effort to stop you instead!
However, no matter how well you know your topic, your brain
is bound to get exhausted over some time, so here are
methods to brainstorm for content for your blog.
1) The very best way to brainstorm is to see what other
bloggers have to say about stuff happening in your field of
discussion. And the very best way to find related blogs is
to use http://blogsearch.google.com/ or www.technorati.com.
There are other decent search tools too, you just have to
look around. From other blogs, you can gather more knowledge
on your subject and you can also comment on what others have
to say on your own blog!
2) Once you've established contacts with other bloggers in
your field, you'll have quite an inexhaustible
"conversation" ongoing, so you'll not need to actively
search for content to write about. However, if you're still
stuck, search for news articles related to your niche in the
local newspaper or online through sites like Google and Yahoo! News..
3) You can also have conversations with people with the same
interest as you in the particular niche you choose, so you
will eventually build up a bank of questions and answers and
interesting discussions to write about in your blog. To do
this, join forums related to your niche, but don't join
every forum there is out there. Stick with one or two with
the biggest number of members or the one which is most
focused on your niche. This will also come in handy much
later in gaining traffic and generating profits.
Remember to keep up your limit of posting at least once
per day (or more if you have a lot of content to write
about) so that the major search engines will know that your
blog has fresh content everyday. As a result it, will attract the
search engines to spider and index your page on a more frequent basis,
hence gaining you extra traffic.
The Internet houses billions of websites. And more and more, literally hundreds, are being added day after day. So if you have created your own unique website for the purpose of business, and are expecting a stream of visitors to it, it is not easy. How will they make their way to this particular website and realize that it is something special and different from others? Think about it.
Welcome to the world of URL search engines! Simply put, a URL search engine is a simple program that trawls or crawls the web to look for keywords and classifies web pages on the basis of those keywords. This enables us to neatly categorize the worldwide web and to find relevant information when we need it. The search engine also has a front-end that we use to type in the query. When this query is run, it in effect searches through billions of URLs to identify and present those URLs which have the highest n incidence of the search string.
But how do you submit your URL to search engines in the first place. With some URL search engines, it is as easy as going to the website and putting in your website URL for inclusion. For instance the URL search engine Google feeds over 80 search engines, including the
ikes of AOL. So, visiting their website to ask for a free listing will ensue that if your URL is selected for inclusion, at least 80 search engines will reflect your URL in their search results. Inktomi is another URL search engine that feeds over 125 search engines including Yahoo, HotBot, MSN and several others. But Inktomi has no free submissions available. It only features paid search strings and submitting your URL here may not be worth the while.
Remember that merely submitting your website is not sufficient to get your website at the top of the search listings. Your URL needs to be indexed in these search engines. And indexing in mot URL search engine may take upwards of a month (and in some cases, up to 8 weeks) for
your URL to become popular enough for inclusion. But if you are in some sort of a hurry to increase the number of visitors to your website, you might choose to go for the pay per click option.
The pay-per-click becomes very useful if your aim is to generate as much of traffic as possible to your website, rather than conducting any type of transaction. In this case, your website comes up on the results page, should a visitor type in those keywords related to your URL. Each time he/she clicks on your website, you as the owner, will be charged. The amount that you shell out will be determined by how high your ranking is or want it to be and how common are the keywords that are typed in, leading to your website.
But I don't really use Pay per click. I use mostly SEO cause it give lasting traffic without money exposure to buy ads.
With other URL search engines, it is a little more complicated. You need to decide whether it is worth paying for the privilege of having your website listed there to substantiate the traffic that may result from your URL being present in the search results. At the end of the day, unless you can get visitors to your site, there is no point in having the site at all. And any expense you may incur as a result of trying to get your website featured on URL search engines, can very well be classified as a genuine marketing and publicity expense!

It will not only enhance the chance of search engine visibility but will also improve the ranking and the other blog and large website owners will also visit the site to evaluate its popularity. How should the content be written? Here are the tips for effective writing.
The topic should be chosen with care:
The matter should be written in such a way that it should keep the reader bound and arouse his curiosity to know more. If there are fewer products then give an angle and instead of giving a detailed description about the product the content should include information about the qualities of the product. But if there are many products then the content should emphasize on the different topics and the angle should come later.
Be sure to categorize them and if necessary you can also use sub categories with the product classification in adherence to their demand. Use the apt keywords relevant to the heading and the body of the content.
The Author should be chosen carefully:
An author having technical knowledge need not always be a good content writer. However he needs to have knowledge about SEO. A capable author is one who understands the needs of his customers and presents the matter in a creative but simple and comprehensive manner.
It should have a link with related resources :
The content should have important links to other websites that give more weightage to the products and services that you are writing about. This helps the customer to secure complete information which will help in their vital decisions and also attracts other website owners to your
site thus increasing your traffic statistics.
Use of relevant visuals:
Images speak volumes and what you cannot achieve with writing; you can accomplish the same feat with the help of attractive and relevant pictures. Those who abhor reading material is sure to notice the images used on your website. Even your written matter should be short and in paragraphs with necessary subheadings and and specifically correct. The use of alt tags in your images ensures promising results with search engines.

5. Article Submissions. Create a short article on your niche topic and submit it to article directories for a backlink and some traffic. You might get more links if your article is picked up and published on other websites.
6. Social Media Profiles. There a whole bunch of social websites online which allow you to insert a link to your website on the profile page. 7. Social Bookmarking/Voting Websites. Certain social voting websites like Netscape or Digg are often crawled by search engines and their links do help to get a website indexed.
8. Forum Signatures. Sign up for some forums in your niche and start contributing to ongoing discussions. Insert a link to the homepage or some inner pages of your site.

13. Hold Contests. Some websites often offer contests in a bid to attract anchor text links from bloggers. An example is this iPhone giveaway on Gary Lee’s site. Contests allow you to determine the specific anchor text but its possible that too many links using the designated keyword may harm your domain instead.
14. Collaborative Projects. You may need to develop an article specifically for a writing project, blog carnival or meme but it will usually get you a couple of backlinks, depending on the number and generosity of the participants involved.
15. Offer your Expertise. This will apply if you have a specific skill set such as web design, copywriting, translation or SEO. Write to an established website and offer to revamp/optimize their website in return for a mention or credit link on a webpage. This offers excellent branding, particularly if your offer is picked up by a website with a decent and exact audience.
Yahoo! is perhaps the most famous example of a very large website. The most popular and widely-used website, Yahoo! is a mixture of the different types of sites - it is a directory site and a search engine site, among others.
Because of the enormous (and diverse) amount of information that it contains, the Yahoo! site map is an extremely useful feature in the Yahoo! website.
Well for those in start ups a site map is a web page that lists the entire pages on a web site. Organized in a hierarchical fashion, site maps can be in textual or visual form (a diagram or an image).Sometimes it hard to read or understand.
The Yahoo! site map serves as a blueprint for the Yahoo! website. Similar to a book's Table of Contents, the Yahoo! sitemap makes it easier for visitors or users to find specific information or pages on the Yahoo! web site without having to browse many pages, because the site map gives an overview or a visual outline of the Yahoo! web site, with each location provided with active links to enable the user to directly move to a specific location.
In addition, the Yahoo! site map allows web developers to put out links from across their sites, making it easier for search engine robots (or engine spiders) to find these pages.
Because the Yahoo! site map improves the search engine optimization of a site, this feature can be considered a valuable tool for online marketers, whose aim is to stimulate and direct traffic to their web sites.
Note, however, that the Yahoo! site map can only give you the 'basics'. Because it is important for web marketers to 'rank high' on main search engines, an effective web marketing strategy that promotes your web site is also very much needed. Listed below are some search engine strategies to consider:
1. Write a descriptive page title at the top of your webpage that avoids 'filler' words like "the" or "and".
2. Incorporate descriptive keywords on your home page, along with your business name. This is called "keyword prominence".
3. Include a Description Meta Tag at the top of the web page. This refers to the sentences (1 or 2 lines, with a maximum of around 255 characters) that describe the content of your web page.
These are just some of the many techniques that you can employ to get more users to visit your website. The important thing is to focus on keywords - and let Yahoo! site map do the rest.
Here is a little used technique and tactic that you can implement to build your mailing list for your blog for no additional cost.Simply called it as “using subscribers to make subscribers” like much in the context of “using money to make money”.
This simple list building formula can be summed up in two words: adswap or simply sharing visitors to subscribers.
Generally, you trade advertisements with other eZine publishers, preferably of the same mailing list size or bigger. You broadcast the eZine publisher’s advertisement to your post on your blogt while the eZine publisher endorses your ad to his list. Yes, you are actually cross endorsing or cross promoting each others offer to each of your mailing list. In result... Both of you benifits.
Your advertisement’s goal should be to get as many subscribers possible from the other eZine publisher’s mailing list to sign up for yours feedburner email signup box.
The result: you grow your mailing list and potential subscribers. This method does not require money, which means it can be done for free. And the return of subscribers? Infinite!
Yes it is!
You only have to do this with one eZine publisher at least once, because his subscribers who are also your subscribers can now be followed up within the boundaries of your mailing list.
Perform ad swaps with as many eZine publishers as possible and soon, you will have a huge mailing list of your own – built free.
Guide For RSS Tune Up!
at 7:02 PM Labels: discussion, list, resources, rss, tips and tricks, trafficToday, RSS is a good tool to help you promote your post in every single way.
RSS is an abbreviation that has evolved into the following, depending on their versions:
· RDF Site Summary (also known as RSS 0.9; the first version of RSS)
· Rich Site Summary (also known as RSS 0.91; a prototype)
· Really Simple Syndication (also known as RSS 2.0)
Today, RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication', and it has the following 7 existing formats or versions:
· 0.90
· 0.91
· 0.92
· 0.93
· 0.94
· 1.0
· 2.0
RSS tools refer to a group of file formats that are designed to share headlines and other web content (this may be a summary or simply 1 to 2 lines of the article), links to the full versions of the content (the full article or post), and even file attachments such as multimedia files. All of these data is delivered in the form of an XML file (XML stands for eXtensible Markup Language), which has the following common names:
· RSS feed
· Webfeed
· RSS stream
· RSS channel
They are typically shown on web pages as an orange rectangle that usually has the letters XML or RSS in it.
RSS feeds can be used to deliver any kind of information. Some of these 'feeds' include:
· Blogs feed - each blog entry is summarized as a feed item. This makes blog posts easier to scan, enabling 'visitors' to zoom in on their items of interest.
· Article feed - this alerts readers whenever there are new articles and web contents available.
· Forum feed - this allows users to receive forum posts and latest discussion topics.
· Schedule feed - this allows users (such as schools, clubs, and other organizations) to broadcast events and announce schedule changes or meeting agendas.
· Discounts or Special feed - this is used to enable users (such as retail and online stores) to 'deliver' latest specials and discounted offers.
· Ego or News Monitoring - this enables users to receive 'filtered' headlines or news that are based on a specific phrase or keyword.
· Industry-specific feed - used by technical professionals in order to market, promote, or communicate with current (and prospective) customers and clients within their specific industries.
RSS feeds enable people to track numerous blogs and news sources at the same time. To produce an RSS feed, all you need is the content or the article that you want to publicize and a validated RSS text file. Once your text file is registered at various aggregators (or 'news readers'), any external site can then capture and display your RSS feed, automatically updating them whenever you update your RSS file.
RSS tools are useful for sites that add or modify their contents on a regular basis. They are especially used for 'web syndication' or activities that involve regular updates and/or publications, such as the following:
· News websites - as used by major news organizations such as Reuters, CNN, and the BBC.
· Marketing
· Bug reports
· Personal weblogs
There are many benefits to using RSS feeds. Aside from being a great supplemental communication method that streamlines the communication needs of various sectors, RSS tools and feeds can also have tremendous benefits in your business, particularly in the field of internet marketing.
RSS tools and feeds provide Internet users with a free (or cheap) and easy advertising or online marketing opportunity for their businesses. Below are some of the RSS features that can help make your internet marketing strategies more effective.
1. Ease in content distribution services. With RSS, your business can be captured and displayed by virtually any external site, giving you an easy way to 'spread out' and advertise them.
2. Ease in regular content updates. With RSS, web contents concerning your business can now be automatically updated on a daily (and even hourly) basis. Internet users will be able to experience 'real time' updates as information in your own file (such as new products and other business-related releases) is changed and modified simultaneously with that of the RSS feeds that people are subscribed to.
3. Custom-made content services. With RSS, visitors can have personalized content services, allowing them total control of the flow and type of information that they receive. Depending on their interests and needs, visitors can subscribe to only those contents that they are looking for (such as real estate or job listings).
4. Increase in (and targeted) traffic. With RSS, traffic will be directed to your site as readers of your content summary (or 1 to 2 lines of your article) who find them interesting are 'forced' to click on a link back to your site.
These are just several of the many things that you can do with RSS. The possibilities are endless, and they are all aimed at providing you with an effective internet marketing strategy for your business.
One of the primary implications of a well-organized and good blog, is to keep your visitors in the website or blogs especially. A blog is definitely created for a purpose, unless intended for personal use, which is the minority and also for the common good. For example, a portfolio blog would want to be visited and it’s content viewed. However, most individuals undoubtly prefer visually captivating designs, so on and so forth. It is undeniable that this causes no harm, but one must put himself/herself in other people’s shoes, as to understand how a visitor to the website might think, do and react.
1 ) Navigation
As I said, a web designer has to learn how to think the way your visitors think.
Situation A : Blog with good navigation ( 2-3 hyperlinks to target page ), well planned in terms of placement, and design.
Situation B : Blog with poor navigation ( takes forever for the visitor to reach his/her target page ), hard-to-read navigation fonts and poor placement of the navigation buttons/bar.
In Situation A, a visitor will always want to be able to access his/her target page. For example, the individual comes across your website, and is interested in the product sold, but wants to find more information. He/she finds the navigation with no trouble, and enters the particular product information page.
As for Situation B, a visitor stumbles into the website, and would also like to find out more information about the product. Unfortunately, due to bad placement and fanciful font-types, the visitor takes forever, or even fails to find the navigation bar. Even when he/she does so, links to the product information are nowhere to be found, (example : home > about > products > product image > etc…[a few more clicks] > product information ).
Analysis : In both situations, wouldn’t a blog with characteristics similar to the Situation A be more rewarding ergo better?

engine to crawl into the video contents inside flash players
so they usually prefer to stay away from such files. It is
therefore advisable not to use such kind of file formats
which discourages the web crawlers.
6) Keep a keyword friendly URL structure that uses a few of
your main keywords in the url string.
7) More than anything, I have learned that the thumbnail
that you choose for your video is one of the most important
factors in terms of the number of people that choose to view
your video. With that in mind, try to experiment with
various thumbnails until you have a good idea which images
attract the most views from the audience that you are
targeting.
8) Try to keep one video per page and put all video pages
into the same directory or folder.
9) Keyword research, as with search engine optimization for
other online content, is crucial for targeting the audience
you desire most effectively. Use keyword research tools
available in order to identify those words that most often
are searched for when searching for related content online.
10) Allow users to submit comments and feedback on your
videos. Studies show that viewers who offer feedback are
those most likely to convert and take the desired action
that you are trying to solicit, whether it be an email,
website visit, or purchase.

One of the easiest & most effective tactics in blogging industry, for developing links to your site is using articles. Almost 70 percent of sites out there that will permit you to publish your articles. At the end of your editorial you will be able to leave an author bio, where you can link to your site or sites. Some editorial directories will permit you to leave as plenty of as four links that will point to your web properties or especially blogs.
Most directories will want you to write an editorial that is at least 400 words in order to get published. This limit isn't that long at all, if you know how to write well. To make this easier for you, I will cover some important things you should consider when working on articles to submit to editorial directories.
The easiest way to come up with speedy articles is going to be achieved by writing about topics that you are already familiar with. If your web-site is about web marketing, you are probably familiar with a number of those topics. If your site is about arts & crafts, you probably already know a bit about that. This technique will help you to speed up your technique. four times you have chosen a topic, start writing.
You will always want to start the editorial off with a lovely title. You will be linking back to your site with a keyword, & I would recommend getting that keyword into the title if possible. Getting the keyword in the title will usually place the keyword in the URL of the page the editorial is published on. This will give you more ranking power for that keyword on your site. A catchy title might grab more attention but I would recommend sticking with keywords over quip.
In order to get lovely at this, practice writing articles within minutes. At first it will seem impossible. Force yourself to write everything you possible can within a 10-minute period. After you have done that 10-15 times, you will be able to generate entire articles in that period of time. This means that in one hour, you will be able to write six quality articles that can be used to get some lovely links to your site.
The reason in the first place on putting your article on their list, you write the articles to get the links. Since you are able to get keyword links with your articles you will get a lovely search engine benefit. Make sure you use the about the author box to generate some links back to your site. Use the keywords you're trying to rank for as your anchor text. This provides maximum benefits. Its gives your website a better rankings..
Overall, editorial marketing is one of the smartest methods you can use to rank better in search engines and better traffic performance. It will give you links that will attract visitors to your website..For us bloggers it's a great pleasure..Backlinks..Backlinks..Backlinks..
Measuring Your Blogs Link Qualities
at 9:37 PM Labels: blog services, resources, tips and tricks, trafficHow good is a link? Search Engine Optimizers and bloggers have now measure it page qualities using Most SEOs and Bloggers will agree that they would rather spend the same time attracting a few high quality links rather than large numbers of low quality links. Having your links on other blog will give you more quality visitors that eventually become your subscribers.
We can measure it by using this websites..
Google PageRank - Measures the likelihood that somebody will find a specific web page by hopping from page to page and only clicking on links. That definition is certainly inaccurate, but I think it captures the spirit of PageRank, so it will suffice as an informal descriptor.
Yahoo! Site Explorer Page Links - How many pages link to the page that links to yours? You can also measure things link links to the entire domain and how deep a page is within its web site.
Alexa, Quantcast and Compete are three web sites that try to rank every web site from most visited to least visited. Supposedly, a link from a web site on the top of their lists will be more valuable than a link from web sites low on their lists. None of these services is wholly accurate and you should take their exact results with skepticism. That said, if all three trend a web site highly or as growing in popularity then it is probably true.
Links or citations in sites like del.icio.us or Digg or Technorati can indicate popularity.
Domain Age - Search engines tend to like age factors because they cannot be faked.
Does a web site have links from government or university or other types of web sites that search engines generally trust highly?
Remember: More Quality link give your website/blogs , good ranking and more visitors from popular websites.
